Compulsory Life Insurance
According
to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 11, 2010 “On compulsory
insurance against loss of professional capacity as a result of accidents at
work and occupational diseases”, the following persons are obliged to conclude
a compulsory insurance contract:
Enterprises, departments and organizations, their branches and representative offices with the status of a legal entity established in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan or a foreign state, regardless of the ownership and organizational-legal form operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- government agencies;
- individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activity without establishing a legal entity;
- elected bodies;
- individuals engaged in entrepreneurial and labor activities on an individual basis
According
to the law, the insured event is determined on the basis of:

an act on an industrial accident drawn up in the form established by the
relevant executive authority, or a court decision on the occurrence of an
industrial accident in respect of a person in whose favor a compulsory
insurance contract must be concluded;

decision of the relevant executive authority confirming the degree of loss
of professional capacity of the insured as a result of an industrial accident
or occupational disease, or death certificate of the person.
Compulsory
insurance contract is issued only by an insurer licensed to carry out insurance
activities in the field of life insurance and authorized by the financial
market supervisory authority to carry out compulsory insurance against
occupational accidents and occupational diseases as a member of the Compulsory
Insurance Bureau.
Compulsory
insurance contract is concluded in the form of an electronic document through
the information system provided by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On
Compulsory Insurance”.
